the healing embrace
Tango Therapy is both a pleasant activity and a technique, facilitating personal growth and positive change. Tango was born as a social dance in poor immigrant neighbourhoods of Argentina and Uruguay at the end of the 19th century. The unique Tango embrace, which reminds of the caring arms of a mother, and many other attributes of Tango are invaluable when dealing with wide rage of problems from low self-esteem to dealing with bereavement. The philosophy of Tango teaches us to be fully present in the here and now, to listen and to hear ourselves and people around us. Through Tango we can master the art of self awareness and awareness of others, to value everyone's uniqueness, to cooperate and co-create, rather than manipulate. We learn to connect and to accept without commitment and to give without expectation. We learn to make decisions and accept responsibility for the outcomes. What we learn in Tango accompanies us in all areas of our lives. Tango Therapy is extremely helpful for young people with communication, self-esteem and self acceptance challenges, for individuals, couples and groups who have issues around trust, forgiveness, letting go, difficulties in decision making or driving their lives forward.
